VE Day, a symbol of British resilience
On Friday 8th May, the country celebrates the 75th Anniversary of Victory in Europe, celebrating the resilience, strength and bravery of a generation.
Just as our country united against the threat of an invading enemy, so today, we’re united against the threat of coronavirus, highlighting the grit, guts and determination of the British people at a time of adversity.
Here at North London Insurance Group, we salute the heroes of the Second World War, many of whom sacrificed their lives for our wellbeing today, and we also salute the modern day heroes on the frontline, the brave NHS staff who are literally putting their lives at risk to care for us and keep us safe.
No one perhaps embodies our sense of national pride more than Captain Tom Moore, the 100-year old war veteran, whose courageous action spans two national crises, fighting in the Second World War and today joining the battle to fight coronavirus, raising over £29 million for the NHS by walking laps of his garden.
Committed to putting this ‘can do’ approach into practise and carry on regardless, we are pleased to say NLIG remains very much open for business, despite our offices being closed.
Fully equipped to work remotely, all our operatives are working from home and we are able to provide clients with our usual high level of service, working via telephone and email, and where required hosting virtual meetings via Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
So, with VE Day highlighting our national resolve and optimism, we’d like to say a massive thank you to Captain Tom and all the NHS front liners. Just as we overcame a formidable enemy back in 1945, by working together today we’ll overcome the threat of coronavirus and move on to a better tomorrow.
